Hello,

How do I credit audio found on this site? Looking at this recording: https://archive.org/details/Mahler_Symphony_5

With such slim info, all I would be able to put is something like this:

"Symphony No. 5, 4th Movement by Gustav Mahler
Performed by The Peabody Symphony Orchestra
Put in the Public Domain by The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University
https://archive.org/details/Mahler_Symphony_5"

Using this in a short film that will be festival submitted, which technically makes it commercial use despite making no money. If it is indeed "public domain" as it says it is, then I'm in the clear.

It is, however, hard to verify whether this claim is true. There's no info that you'd usually need for credit, such as a date for when the recording took place. I also can't find any proof that the Peabody SO releases public domain recordings. This download somewhat exists in a vacuum.

I've emailed the Peabody institute, we'll see what they say.

Well, Peabody didn't give a definitive answer. Communications specialist just said, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we'll look into it."
